A long road to Love’s Labour’s Lost!

Love’s Labour’s Lost is a personal favorite of MSC co-founder John Varda. So why did it take so long to perform it?

  • We spent a lot of time being serious. MSC didn’t perform a single comedy for nearly five years! As You Like It, in 2017, was the first.
  • The original text is a bit heavy. Shakespeare’s best-loved comedies tend to be the shorter ones (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest, The Comedy Of Errors, and Twelfth Night all spring to mind) and although Love’s Labour’s isn’t the longest… it can feel that way. Our version is just 90 minutes long, because we believe that watching earnest people suffer the slings and arrows of love shouldn’t be a pain in the neck.
  • We yielded right-of-way once. We actually planned to bring this show to life once before! But when a nearby professional company put it on their calendar, we decided to change lanes.

Opening August 9, take advantage of one of your six chances to see this play a dozen years in the making! Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
