Remembering Richard DiPrima

As reported in the Wisconsin State Journal, Richard DiPrima, the founder and director of Madison’s Young Shakespeare Players, died Sunday October 16.

DiPrima’s importance and influence in elevating the profile of classic theater in the Madison area cannot be overstated. From its founding in 1980, thousands of participants joined YSP for full-length presentations of plays by Shakespeare and select other writers. The program has inspired multiple spinoffs and satellites over the decades, and several graduates have gone on to make significant on-stage and off-stage contributions to nearly every MSC production.
