The Merry Wives of Windsor
By William Shakespeare
Directed by Francisco C. Torres
Madison Shakespeare Company
After a less than successful attempt at securing a place in Henry the Fifth’s court, Falstaff resolves to remedy his financial troubles by seducing the wives of two wealthy merchants. With the help of his trusted band of ne’er-do-wells, he begins to woo them separately. However, when the wives discover that he sent them identical letters, they seek vengeance by playing tricks on Falstaff when he comes calling. Aided by their husbands, families, and friends, the wives hatch a plan to play one final trick in the forest to put an end to Falstaff’s roguery. Will it work?
